Question 1 of 16
1. Question
Question 1A
At an ASL storytelling session at a local public library, there were ASL students crowding in the room preventing children from accessing the experience. Even though the program was geared toward these children, ASL students were not willing to leave the room to make space available for them as they needed the event to count for their homework assignment for attending a deaf event. Consequently, children were turned away or had to sit behind ASL students, making it difficult for them to see the storytellers. Adding to the frustration, the young deaf children were intimidated by the throng of ASL students, most of whom were busy chatting with each other and taking pictures.

Question 7A
An ASL student shows up at a Deaf-run agency in hope of snaring an interview with someone for a required paper for her ASL class. She gets upset when she was told that no one is available, even after the service provider explains that her time is precious, that there is a long wait list of deaf people who needed her service, that the agency is doing its best to respond to all pressing needs of the community and that she will make herself available in about two weeks (past the assignment due date). The student sends a nasty email and spreads the word that this agency is not responsive to the needs of the community and that deaf people are not as capable as hearing people in running organizations.

Question 8A
An ASL student shows up at a Deaf event just long enough to grab a deaf person who is willing to answer a couple of basic questions. After taking a picture of him, she leaves immediately afterwards. She submits a full-length report about this deaf person including his details about his family, his academic background, his career, and his views on allies. Unfortunately for this student, the instructor happens to know the deaf person well enough to recognize that most of the information written in the report was fabricated. (E.g., that he graduated from a local deaf school while in fact he was mainstreamed; that he had deaf parents while he did not; that he attended Gallaudet University while he went to RIT, etc.).
